CASKET FOR ME

























Today, a new "fresh", "exciting", "interesting" new assignment is given by our dear Mr. WanB -- CASKET FOR ME. Oh my god, I so shock and unbelieveable on the title! haha. I never thought before I have to design a casket/ coffin for myself. And Mr.WanB say this is the chance that we can design casket for ourselves, because when we die, is the others designed for us. Hmm... I agree with him.

This time, Mr WanB state few 'requirements' for tis casket. Although it is a "casket for me", however, he wants us design a casket for me and my sarong. Casket must be according to own body size and, made of bamboo. At the same time, I have to sketch out how I'll be placed in my casket that I design. Not finish yet, I have to show also how my casket carry by 6 friends! Hahahaha, after listen so many requirements, I so anxious to create my own coffin!

I refer to google images, try to find some of examples of casket. After selected, I stil prefer traditional pattern casket, that is rectangular in shape, just look like a bed for me to have a "long sleep". This is some of the images I refer:

My casket is a combination of old n modern. How to say? From the picture, we can seen that my casket is in traditional shape- rectangular shape. Maybe someone will feel old and no much creative, but in my opinion, a casket is a bed for corpse. And a bed for me should be remain in this shape. By the way, I dislike the casket that almost closed by casket cover or any non-transparent material, then my relatives and friends can't even view my last face. So, I designed the casket cover just has a bamboo made frame. The centre of cover is a transluency surface that able let my beloved person to look my face. You can also see that on the transluency cover, I will designed a bamboo background. The bamboo background is so poetry and peaceful, it make my casket look elegant and just like a artistic work.

About how I'll be placed in my casket, I lie on my sarong first, then about four of my friends will carry the sarong up and put me into the casket. Next, how my casket carry by 6 friends? My casket put on the ground, then 6 friends will squatted down to carry it. Hence, they stand up together and my casket wil be carry by them.

In conclusion, actually I never think about design a casket for myself. After this assignment, I not only understanding about human dimension even deeply, but I also have a new lesson and understand about my life. However, I hope I won't touch such casket matter in future again. Beacause, in Chinese tradition, It is "pantang" enough.
