1) This is Block C of HBP. It sketches with 'line'. The materials I use is pencil, black ball pen.

2) The "traditional house" for Orang Melayu- ATAP HOUSE. It located the Pusat Pengajian Perumahan, Bangunan dan Perancangan nearby. The material I use is pencil and black pen. It is sketches with 'dots'.

Project 2C : The 101 Mask (Topeng101)

1) The ingredients/materials/tools that I used in make a mask, such as newspaper, brush, poster colour, plastic bag, toilet paper...

2) I cut out a piece of plastic beg as a protection on my face. This is the part of eyes and nose. So I can still see my funny face when I paste the newspaper onto it. Meanwhile, I can maintain my breath.


3) I made some mixture of glue to paste the newspaper onto my face. The mixture is made up of Glue + Water.


4) Next, I put the plastic beg which is match my face size on top of face. Then, I started pasting the newspaper which is already sink in glue mixture for few seconds on the plastic beg. My face is paste with newspaper now. (front way)



5) From the side way, you can see I can't even smile or any type of emotional face, in order to maintain the "shape" of mask. However, there's still a shortcut / faster way, that is using hair dryer to blow it until the shape fixed.






6) After half an hour, my mask almost fixed. I am taking off my mask, this is my fundamental mask. (for own face mask, actual mask)




7) Using the same way, and this is the 2nd mask I done (for emotional mask). You can see the slightly different between them? My emotional mask got open the mouth~

8) Without wasting the time, I quickly pasted another layer of toilet paper on the surface of mask. According their says, it can helps to maintain the shape of mask. However, in my opinion, put another layer of toilet paper on the mask surface just easier to me for painted it with poster colour later.



9) I paint a layer of white poster colour on my ''face of emotion mask" as a base. Its purpose is to estimate the black features I going to paint later.

10) I paint my black features on my my ''face of emotion mask". It just look like the mask of traditional opera. The emotion I trying to express is laugh in angry.

11) Next, turn actual face, same way after paint a layer of white poster colour, I start to paint my 'skin colour' on the mask. After that, I draw my eyebrow, eye and lips.

12) The final production of MY MASK is done.

2B Man-Made Structure : Bamboo Sound Tools

On 23 July 2010, we have another new interesting assignment -- use bamboo(natural structure) to make a bamboo sound tool (man-made structure).

This is a very 1st time for me to 'chop down' a bamboo tree. I run to bengkel for borrow the saw to cut down the bamboo tree. After cut them down, I have to use knife to skive the outest layer of bamboo. Then cut it into pieces-according the size i need. Next using sandpaper to polish it. Finally, I coloured it with different colours and tied it up.

Natural Structure : Bamboo

On 19 July 2010, Mr.WanB brought us to Rumpun Buluh Research Village Site Visit, observe about natural structure. At there, we had draw 15 pieces of drawing.Such as cow, goat, old tree trunk, leaves, my face, my friends face, the people around you, tree and so on. After that, we find the bamboo trees ourselves, either draw it or take as photo, we observe the shape, the leaves, the stem, the 'joint' between bamboo and surrondings. As the title of this project is NATURAL STRUCTURE, and MR.WanB emphasize on JOINTS - "visual joints", "time joints", "life joints", and "inspiratioanl joints", so, I draw out a list of bamboo life, the relationship between bamboo and bioversity, the scale of different bamboo, and insert myself into it in order present an interesting story.


1) I assume myself as a bamboo shoots, a layer and a layer epidermis protect me for growth. It resembles me always protected by family, friends, elders,caring teachers, and beloved family.

2) Bamboo shoots slowly grow up.... It just like the stage when I in Form6 to university. I trying hard to absorb "nutrients", "sunlight", and "raindrops".


3) When I knew that I qualified enter USM, I was so delighted. Just like the green bamboo, full of energy, fresh, vibrant.

4) However, as unfamiliar to the suroundings, and a HUGE difference between secondary school and university, either from the way of teaching, assignment, project, and contents of course, I feel a bit defeat. I feel I just like the old bamboo, wilted.

5) After getting some times, when I slowly get use on that, I reborn! I pick up my faith again. I had gradually adapted to the environment.

6) Finally, I sucess. I able to handle most of things independent. From ignorance untill knowledgeable, I knew that I stil have a lot of things and knowledge has to learn, has to explore. My life is in colour! Because I find my target in life!

The water level surrrounding Penang Island gradually rise, and people were waiting anxiously in their polar shift and PONDOK which located in hillside. Finally, the water level hits the PONDOK bases, people would not see the land for at least 40days. During this period, inhabitants in PONDOK have to survive with their pre-packed supply food, drinks, clothings, radio, all these daily necessities that prepared and made by USM. In this context, I would like to insert Metabolite Fingerprinting For Standardizing Tongkat Ali Herbal Products, to be a part of PONDOK.

What I Heard

I have attended my 1st lesson on 12July2010(Monday), that is RUS101 at E48B from 9am until 11am. This lesson is for all d 1st year student of hbp. This lecture is held by lecturer, Mr. Wan Burhanuddin Wan Abidin. I learn pretty much in this lesson, learn a lot new knowledge about this course n also USM.

First of all, I know about USM, an APEX University, actually means that USM is taking part in Accelerated Programme of Excellence(Program Pemacuan untuk Kemacuan). USM setting year 2007 to 2012 are the year for transformation, means that USM wil changes from good to better to best, finaly reach the stage of excellence. And the word "status-quo", which means the existing state and condition.

Mr.WanB also introduce d lecturers to all students of hbp. Like associate professors Dr. Ar. Abdul Majid Ismail, senior lecturers etc Dr. Azizan Marzuki, and Dr. Mohd. Hanizun Hanafi.

At the same time, Mr.WanB explain the meanings of studio production and production. He said, to start a production, the process is intention-act-product. By the way, intention by actor, act by rule, and product by place. By the way, actors included students, studiomasters, USM community, Penangites, etc. It is very important in order to achieve the vision and mission of USM. Every actor plays role particularly in order to contribute for "transforming higher education for a sustainable tomorrow", which also the vision of USM. Next, we also introduced to 3P, which is people, principle, and place..

Mr.WanB said he will teaching or explaining most of theinfomation in English as exis tof internatioanl student in class. However, I am like it because that can improve my language. Besides, he also advise us should come in earlier, so that we can sit in front in order to gain more infomation and knowledge. As a student, especially HBP student, we have to work extra hard, study hard, hand in the assignment or any other projects in time. At the same time, we should change ourselves as well, follow the steps of world, TRANSFORMATION.

By the way, the most unforgetable period to me, when Mr.WanB kidding that chinese name are so difficult to remember, but sometimes Christien name are not suitable to every chinese name. such as

After listening this 1st lesson, wauuu~ it truly motivate me have to change myself, to be better in future, can't only just satisfied this little achievement now. Instead, I have to upgrade from time to time, whatever in my coursework, exam, assignment, grade, but also my soft skills~~
